Winters Goes Wild, But Black Knights Win
|
The Brooklyn Black Knights defeated the Kansas City Tornadoes, 6-5. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Matt Winters, who slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Cong Foong got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 1.2 innings. The Tornadoes fall to 11-14 and continue their uneven start to the 2034 season.
Had Masayoshi Sai not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Sai hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Black Knights.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Sai.
