The Death Stars had to overcome a fine effort from Indian Wells pitcher John Huo to grab a narrow 4-2 win at Stars Field. Huo went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The winner was Dale Martin, who threw 107 pitches over 7.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 6 hits. The Death Stars raised their record to 56-47.
Had Morgan Catterall not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Catterall hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 4-1, in favor of the Death Stars.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Detroit manager Loren Garrison.
