|
The Coal Miners had to overcome a fine performance from Chicago pitcher Jorge García to grab a 5-4 win at The War Dome. García allowed no earned runs over 6 innings. Antioch is now 66-36, 7½ games up in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League.
Had Herman Wolf not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Wolf hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Coal Miners.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Wolf told the Antioch News.
