Peoria catcher Eugene Axe was instrumental in his team's 6-3 win over the Chicago Titans. Axe, who is rated as the 10th best prospect by BNN, went 1-2 with no runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Caterpillars. Alan Gorringe got credit for the win, improving to 4-11. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings. Luis Domínguez converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
Dan Moss aided the Peoria cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman was 1-3 with a double and 2 walks.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Peoria manager Roberto Martínez.
With the win, Peoria has a record of 45-52. Chicago falls to 47-48.
