Kodiaks Pitching Ravaged by Pope
It was high-fives all around for Mike Pope at Foothills Stadium today.

He got them from his teammates and he got them at the plate during an outstanding hitting performance against the Calgary Kodiaks. Pope smashed 5 hits in 7 at-bats on his monster day, leading his club to a 9-8 win.

"Mike was hitting everything," said Mustangs manager Bill Martin. "It really was a special game for him."

In the opposing dugout, Kodiaks manager José Díaz told BNN beat writers that Pope "ambushed" the club.

"Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but we'll have another chance," he said. "Hopefully, Pope oversleeps next time."

Mike Pope singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 9th, flied out in the 11th and hit an RBI single in the 13th.

So far this year Pope has 4 home runs and a .321 batting average.
