Richards goes 4-for-5 to Pull Titans to .500
|
Andy Richards left his imprint on the 7-4 Chicago win against the Fairfield Flash. Richards went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Matt Calderón picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Paul Calamy was tagged with the loss. Brian Mullins got the save, his 19th in 19 chances.
The Titans got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Marshall Dempsey. For the game, Dempsey was 1-1 with a home run. In the top of the ninth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Chicago a 5-4 lead.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Fairfield manager Gary Altman. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
The Titans bumped their record to 46-46 with this latest triumph.
