The Fairfield Flash got a stellar performance from pitcher Joe Gillard, who handcuffed the Silver Lake offense en route to a 7-2 win at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Jamie Newitt notched his 2nd save in 2 chances. The Flash bumped their record to 45-45 with this latest triumph.

Taylor Bastien had a big run-scoring single for the Flash in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Fairfield leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Vincent Bethea and stroked the single to right. It was his 106th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flash ahead, 4-2.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Fairfield manager Gary Altman.
