The Peoria Caterpillars defeated the Antioch Coal Miners, 6-0, at The Coal Mine today. Leading the charge for Peoria was designated hitter Kosaku Yasuda. He belted 2 home runs. David Stafford got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 6 innings, giving up no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The 5th-place Caterpillars improved to 40-50.

Yasuda had a key at-bat for Peoria early in the game. With the bases empty, he hit a solo home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and gave Peoria an early 1-0 lead.
