The Joplin Fireballs defeated the Pasadena Bumblebees, 5-3, at The Firepit today. Leading the charge for Joplin was third baseman Manny Gonzáles. He was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Al Bates, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 9 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 8-5. Hiroo Okimura got the save, his 2nd in 2 chances.

Gonzáles had an important at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Fireballs went on to win.

"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Fireballs manager Chance Jackson, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."

The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Joplin.
