Irvin Helps Astoria Cruise to 13-3 Win
|
Astoria and Billings took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Astoria Argonauts coasted to a win over the Billings Mustangs, 13-3. Monte Irvin had a good day at the plate for Astoria. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Ryouhei Kondo picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-1. He struck out 8 in 7 innings.
Robby Lucero, who is tied for 3rd in the DKL with a .598 slugging percentage, aided the Astoria cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
In postgame comments to the Astoria Herald, Irvin said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Argonauts bumped their record to 51-39 with this latest triumph.
