Fireballs Score Late, Upend Raptors, 6-4
|
The Joplin Fireballs topped the Omaha Raptors, 6-4, in Darryl Kile League action at The Firepit. The player of the game was Joplin pitcher and Crestview, Florida native Pat Kirk. Joplin reliever Ken Morita picked up the win to move to 2-1. Shu-de Chia suffered the loss. Hiroo Okimura notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Had Johnny Burt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Burt hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Fireballs.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Kirk told the Joplin Bulletin.
The Fireballs bumped their record to 52-33 with this latest triumph.
