The Espanola Bomberos had to overcome a big game from Fairfield shortstop Taylor Bastien to leave Casa de Fuego with a 8-5 victory. Bastien went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Espanola reliever Ryan Wise picked up the win to move to 1-1. Gabriel Bernard suffered the loss. Lex Herrewijn notched his 11th save in 13 chances.

Early in the game, left fielder Coy Jacobs had a grand slam home run for Espanola. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Bomberos on top, 6-5.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Jacobs told the Espanola Daily News.

The Bomberos bumped their record to 43-43 with this latest triumph.
