Márquez Powers Mustangs to 10-8 Win
|
The Billings Mustangs beat the Antioch Coal Miners, 10-8, at Cobb Field. Billings designated hitter Ramón Márquez earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The win was credited to José Chávez in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Steve Cherry took the loss. The Mustangs bumped their record to 48-34 with this latest triumph.
Billings took a 10-8 lead on Oscar Mayes's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Antioch pitcher Steve Cherry in the bottom of the eighth.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Mayes told reporters after the game.
