Baristas Win at Antioch, 5-3
|
The Silver Lake Baristas knocked off the Antioch Coal Miners, 5-3, at The Coal Mine. Hilario Martínez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Silver Lake won. The shortstop went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Javier Vargas notched his 2nd save in 5 chances. The win boosts the Baristas to 36-44. The loss puts the Coal Miners at 54-27.
With Silver Lake leading 3-0 in the top of the seventh, Martínez hit a sinker from Manuel Sánchez for a 2-run single. It was his 29th hit of the season and put the Baristas ahead, 5-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Martínez told a Silver Lake Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
