Pioneers Turn Back Las Vegas, 3-2
|
The Vancouver Pioneers picked up a win at Sin City Stadium, knocking off the Las Vegas Aces, 3-2. Starting pitcher Kenko Samurakami, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Samurakami got the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. Samurakami allowed 2 earned runs. The save went to Munemori Abe, his 10th this season.
It could have been a different outcome for Vancouver, had it not been for Armando Espinoza, the top prospect . Espinoza contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second inning to put Vancouver up, 3-0.
"It was a solid team effort," said Samurakami after the game.
The Aces, now 8-17, continue their poor start.
