Phantoms Edge Fireballs, 4-3
|
The Coronado Phantoms eked out a 4-3 win versus the Joplin Fireballs at The Firepit. Nobody did more than pitcher Luis Ramírez, who captured player of the game honors. Ramírez, now 5-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. The current losing streak for Joplin has reached 4 games.
Noriaki Hatsutori drove in one run for Coronado. The 25-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Ken Morita. It was his 15th RBI of the season.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Joplin manager Chance Jackson. "The effort was great."
