Raiders Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Espanola Bomberos got a superb performance from pitcher Mitsuzuka Nakano, but the Reno Raiders still won the game, 4-3. Nakano was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. The win was Virisimo Antona's in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Ross Astbury took the loss for Espanola. Mei-shan Huang, credited with the save, is now 3 for 5 in save opportunities.
Late-game drama came in the top of the 13th inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Gary Carter, hit a single. It helped Reno seize the win.
Carter told a Reno News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Bomberos have now dropped 7 straight.
