It might have been a rain-shorted game, but the hometown crowd didn't seem to mind.
The Vancouver Canadians topped the Billings Mustangs, 2-1, in Nick Adenhart League action at Stanley Park. The player of the game was Vancouver pitcher and Terre Haute, Indiana native Wilson Polk. Vancouver reliever Bob Johnston picked up the win, upping his record to 6-3. Luis Sánchez absorbed the loss.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Stanton Miller. For the game, Miller was 1 for 1 with a double. In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Vancouver a 2-1 lead.
"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Miller.
The Canadians bumped their record to 38-37 with this latest triumph.
