Argonauts Prevail, 6-5, Over Detroit
|
The Astoria Argonauts trumped the Detroit Death Stars, 6-5, at Golden Fleece Park. Astoria designated hitter Will Southern was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Artashes Injeyan converted his 22nd save in 29 tries. The Argonauts bumped their record to 43-34 with this latest triumph.
Southern came through with some timely hitting for Astoria. With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth and no one down, Southern hit a first pitch forkball for a run-scoring single. His 85th hit of the season made it 3-2, Astoria.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Astoria manager Bernard Jacq.
