Bian Excels, But Stogies Win
|
Spirited fans at The Brew Stade greeted the San Diego Hops for their clash with the Havana Stogies.
San Diego got a terrific game from third baseman An-yi Bian. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Havana, 10-2. Bian was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He belted 2 home runs. The Stogies, now 18-6, have hit the ground running this season.
Kohei Matsumoto aided the Havana cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"This is one game in a long season," said losing manager Randy England. "The sooner we can forget about it, the better."
