Billings and Detroit played a hard-fought contest at The Death Star.
Billings beat Detroit at The Death Star, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Scott Boorman, who earned player of the game honors. John Otten converted his 18th save in 23 tries.
The Mustangs got a big at-bat from right fielder Jeff Bettcher. For the game, Bettcher was 1-4 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Billings a 3-2 lead.
"It was a good effort all around," said Bettcher.
Billings is now riding a 3-game win streak.
