Racers Nip Canadians, 2-1
|
Bowling Green left-hander Jonathan Burton made an effective start against the Vancouver Canadians at Stanley Park, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Burton picked up the win for Bowling Green, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 1-8. The first-place Racers have a one-game lead in their division.
The Racers got a big at-bat from second baseman John Lacenaire. For the game, Lacenaire went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 15th double of the season gave Bowling Green a 2-0 lead.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Burton.
