Canadians Get Past Bowling Green for 4-3 Win
|
Vancouver beat Bowling Green at Stanley Park, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Cai-fei Men, who earned player of the game honors. Vancouver reliever Bob Johnston was the winner. His record is now 4-3. Curt Woods took the loss. Thomas Kearton, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities.
António Román had a big run-scoring double for the Canadians in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Vancouver trailing 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Vincente Cerni and stroked the double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Canadians ahead, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Román told reporters after the game.
The Canadians bumped their record to 33-33 with this latest triumph.
