Hornets Raise Rally Flag, Beat San Francisco, 4-3

The Eureka Hornets picked up a win at The Nest, knocking off the San Francisco Earthquakes, 4-3. On the mound for Eureka was right-hander Walt Lawson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Lawson picked up the win for Eureka, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. The Earthquakes, now 8-14, continue their poor start.
José Zavala drove in one run for Eureka. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Zak Osborn. It was his 10th RBI of the season.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said San Francisco skipper Joe Ward, "and it cost us."
