Canadians Raise Rally Flag, Beat Albuquerque, 4-3
|
The Vancouver Canadians beat the Albuquerque Cacti, 4-3, at Stanley Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Stanton Miller, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Vancouver reliever Bob Johnston was credited with the win, to go to 3-3. Luis García took the loss for Albuquerque. Thomas Kearton, credited with the save, is now 3 for 5 in save opportunities.
Miller had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch slider from Luis García, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Canadians a 4-3 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Miller.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Albuquerque manager Tom Robertson. "The effort was great."
The Canadians, at 32-32, sit in third place in the Nick Adenhart League Bobby Cox Division.
