Aeropostales Fall to Hegarty, Phantoms
|
The Indian Wells Aeropostales and Coronado Phantoms were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Stars Field.
The Coronado Phantoms beat the Indian Wells Aeropostales, 11-6, at Stars Field. The Phantoms got a fine performance from second baseman Andy Hegarty, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 6. Bruce Berardi was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 8 save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Coronado, had it not been for Giampaolo Marcovicci, the 29-year old first baseman . Marcovicci contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Coronado up, 2-0.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Marcovicci said after the game.
The Phantoms bumped their record to 31-30 with this latest triumph.
