Victory Over Raiders Takes Joplin to 43-18
Dedicated fans at The Firepit weathered the storm to watch their beloved Fireballs beat the Raiders.

The Joplin Fireballs defeated the Reno Raiders, 8-2, at The Firepit. Joplin second baseman Juan Gruzmán was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. David Myers picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 1-0.

Gruzmán had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, when he hit a grand slam. The Fireballs went on to win.

"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Reno manager Chris Brading.

The Fireballs improved to a lofty 43-18.
