Coal Miners Raise Rally Flag, Beat Peoria, 5-4
|
Benefiting from Tucker Slade's productive game, the Antioch Coal Miners downed the Peoria Caterpillars, 5-4. Slade went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for the Coal Miners. The win was credited to Daryl Wyles in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jay Casbeer took the loss. Antioch is now 37-16, 8 games up in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Antioch trailing 4-2, Netro Karsumaatmaja hit a slider from Jay Casbeer to left for a bases-clearing double. Just like that, the Coal Miners had a walk-off win.
"Both teams played hard," said Antioch manager Hervé Barthélémy.
