Great Effort by Beavers SS Sandino Not Enough in 6-4 Loss
|
Portland shortstop Cesar Sandino was sensational. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Las Vegas beat the Beavers, 6-4. Sandino was named the player of the game despite the loss. Las Vegas reliever Baltwin Baars was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Tim Stady Jr. took the loss. Amaui Mahi'ai closed the door for Las Vegas, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Stanley Comiskey, who is a three-time All-Star, chipped in for Las Vegas with a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Comiskey told reporters after the game.
Las Vegas is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 7th in 22 games.
