Coal Miners Fall Short at Billings
|
The umbrellas came out during the Billings-Antioch contest at Cobb Field.
The Billings Mustangs trumped the Antioch Coal Miners, 9-8, at Cobb Field. Billings designated hitter Ramón Márquez was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The winner was Billings reliever John Otten, now 5-2. The loser was Manuel Sánchez.
Billings won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Manuel Sánchez on the mound for Antioch, pinch hitter Al Nichol hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Mustangs fans to their feet.
In comments to the Billings Herald, Nichol insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
Antioch has now lost 6 straight.
