Bombers Edge Past Canadians, 1-0
|
The Bombers grabbed a win, 1-0, at Stanley Park, overcoming a fine effort from Vancouver pitcher Po-sin Pang. Pang went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Bronx reliever Jian-guo Yang got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Po-sin Pang was tagged with the loss. Earning his 4th save for Bronx was Bartolo Alicpa.
Had Eric Swinney not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Swinney hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Bombers.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Vancouver skipper Jon Crowe.
Even with the win, the Bombers have a dismal 18-34 record.
