Chicago Titans starter Fred Price was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Minneapolis Freeze, 4-3. Chicago reliever Arturo Mercado picked up the win to move to 3-0. Scott Ray suffered the loss. The Titans bumped their record to 26-23 with this latest triumph.
Had Danny Melo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Melo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Titans.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Minneapolis manager John Justin.
