Racers Come Up Short at Peoria
|
The Peoria Caterpillars picked up a win at Excavatar Park, knocking off the Bowling Green Racers, 4-3. Starting pitcher Morihiro Hashimoto played a key role in the triumph. Hashimoto got the win, improving to 3-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. Hashimoto allowed 2 earned runs. The save was Jay Casbeer's, his 1st.
Andy Levine had a big run-scoring single for the Caterpillars in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Peoria leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a slider from Daniel Carrasco and stroked the single to left-center. It was his 3rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Caterpillars ahead, 4-0.
Levine called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Caterpillars saw their win-loss record go to 20-27. At the same time, the Racers fell to 25-24.
