Victory Pushes Death Stars Record to 24-20
|
Detroit and Reno duked it out at The Death Star and the Death Stars came out victorious.
Death Stars shortstop Sean Mizuno put his stamp on his team's 5-3 win over the Reno Rockets. Mizuno went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Detroit in the contest. Patrick Charbonnier got the win, improving to 1-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Kent Whitten got the save, the 14th for him this season.
Mizuno contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Detroit in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Mizuno took a fastball from José Toro and stroked the home run to right. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Death Stars to leap in front, 4-2.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Mizuno told the Detroit Chronicle.
The Death Stars bumped their record to 24-20 with this latest triumph.
