Ochoa Excels, But Argonauts Win
|
Vancouver third baseman Ignacio Ochoa pounded Astoria Argonauts pitchers at Golden Fleece Park, but it was not enough to keep the Canadians from falling, 9-8. Ochoa belted 3 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 4. Drew Coffin got the save, the 1st for him this season. The Canadians, at 25-23, have lost 5 straight games.
Had Monte Irvin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Irvin hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 9-8, in favor of the Argonauts.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Irvin told the Astoria Herald.
