Canadians Score Late to Upend Cacti, 5-4
|
The Vancouver Canadians knocked off the Albuquerque Cacti, 5-4, at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Phil Kinch, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Vancouver won. The shortstop went 2-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Alexis Coates was credited with the save for Vancouver, his 14th of the season. The Canadians, at 24-18, lead by one game in their division.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from center fielder Julián Reséndez. For the game, Reséndez went 1 for 1. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 19th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 5-4 lead.
"We did enough to win," said Kinch.
