Ruíz Slugs Bombers to 7-4 Win
|
The South Carolina Bombers defeated the Kansas City Tornadoes, 7-4, at Bomber Ballpark today. Leading the charge for South Carolina was second baseman Esteban Ruíz. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Sotatsu Hayagawa was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Earning his 6th save for South Carolina was Ed Armstrong.
Ruíz had a key at-bat for South Carolina early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave South Carolina an early 3-0 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Ruíz, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Tornadoes fall to 7-12 and continue their lackluster start to the 2034 season.
