The inspired effort of Minneapolis shortstop Cecil Dell was not enough to prevent a 6-4 loss to the Joplin Fireballs. Dell went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jin-ho Chin was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Al Hrabosky Jr. nailed down his 16th save.

Juan Gruzmán, who is tied for 9th in the DKL in hits with 47, aided the Joplin cause with a 2-run triple in the bottom of the first. For the game, the second baseman went 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Gruzmán.

Joplin is now 30-10, 6 games up in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
