Bombers Solve Tornadoes, 3-2
|
South Carolina starter Ange Schmit had a strong outing against the Kansas City Tornadoes at Bomber Ballpark. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. South Carolina reliever John Christensen was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Norberto Barrón took the loss for Kansas City. Earning his 5th save of the year was Ed Armstrong.
The Bombers got a big at-bat from catcher John Watt. For the game, Watt was 1 for 3. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 7th hit of the season gave South Carolina a 3-2 lead.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Schmit. "Successful pitchers do it."
The Tornadoes fall to 7-11 and continue their lackluster start in 2034.
