Galdos hits 2 home runs, Fireballs Move to 27-9
|
The Joplin Fireballs topped the Omaha Raptors, 8-6, in Darryl Kile League action at Anchorage Municipal Stadium. The player of the game was Joplin designated hitter Armando Galdos. Charlie Haydon got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings. Al Hrabosky Jr. was credited with the save for Joplin, his 14th of the season.
Joplin first baseman Jim Bungay delivered a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh. Overall, he went 3 for 5, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 4.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Bungay.
The Fireballs improved to a lofty 27-9.
