Coal Miners Shut Out Caterpillars, Ogawa Winner
|
The Peoria Caterpillars manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Antioch Coal Miners. The Caterpillars were overpowered by Antioch starter Takeji Ogawa, who hurled his club to victory, 7-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Roberto Martínez said.
Over 9 innings, Ogawa blanked Peoria on 6 hits with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Ogawa said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 6 starts this year Ogawa has fashioned a 2-3 record and a 7.31 ERA.
