Bomberos Turn Back Bowling Green, 5-4
|
The Bowling Green Racers got a superb performance from right fielder Tim Beeman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Espanola. The Bomberos won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Beeman was named the player of the game. He was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ron Ogden got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 5. The Racers fall to 15-17 and continue their uneasy start to the 2034 season.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the fifth inning. Facing Bowling Green hurler Alain Picard, Lewis Hoskins, who is tied for 9th in the NAL in doubles with 8, drew a walk. The Bomberos went on to win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Bowling Green manager Jorge Magana.
