Victory Pushes Canadians Record to 15-9
|
Vancouver second baseman José Rodríguez was instrumental in his team's 5-2 win over the Espanola Bomberos. Rodríguez went 2-2 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Canadians. Vancouver reliever Bob Johnston was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Andy Schuman took the loss. Alexis Coates was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.
Rafael Cruz, the 19 overall pick in the 2023 draft, chipped in for Vancouver with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Rodríguez told the Vancouver News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
Vancouver, now 15-9, has gotten their season off to a good start.
