The Minneapolis Freeze turned back the Astoria Argonauts, 5-4, at Golden Fleece Park. Wang Huang was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Alex Alvarez saved it for Minneapolis. The Argonauts fall to 10-12 and continue their uneasy start to the 2034 season.
Had Miguel Olberos not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Olberos hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Freeze.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Minneapolis manager John Justin. "It's usually not just one thing."
