Death Stars Topple Bombers with Late Rally
|
Detroit Death Stars starter Stone Carlton pitched a strong game against the Bronx Bombers at Bronx Ballpark, leading the Death Stars to a 5-2 win. Detroit reliever Kagera Sokoine picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ivan Perez shouldered the loss. Kent Whitten closed the door for Detroit, picking up his 7th save of the year.
Masamichi Fujita made it 4-2 in favor of Detroit when he delivered a 2-run home run. It came with no one out in the top of the eighth. The Death Stars went on to win.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Carlton said.
The win brings the Death Stars to 11-9, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
