Kodiaks Topple Fireballs with Late Rally
|
The Calgary Kodiaks topped the Joplin Fireballs, 3-2, in Darryl Kile League action at The Firepit. The player of the game was Calgary pitcher and Port Elgin, Canada native Fred Naylor. Calgary is now 15-7.
The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from shortstop Howard Jennings. For the game, Jennings went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 8th hit of the season gave Calgary a 3-2 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Jennings told reporters after the game.
