The San Francisco Earthquakes faced a tough opponent in Bloomington pitcher Salah bin Atif, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Golden Gate Park by a final score of 3-2. bin Atif went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. John Ketchum picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Salah bin Atif was tagged with the loss. Nicolas Joubert earned the save, his 2nd, for the Earthquakes.
Robbie Quiroz, who is rated as the 94th best prospect by BNN, aided the San Francisco cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman was 1-4 with a triple.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said San Francisco manager Joe Ward. "It's usually not just one thing."
San Francisco is off to a hot start at 2-0.
