With second baseman Luis López leading the charge, the Reno Rockets defeated the Coronado Phantoms, 5-3, at Phantoms Field. López, who is tied for 4th in the NAL in RBI with 16, went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was José Berrios's in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Alberto García took the loss for Coronado. Reno, now 11-7, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Il-hwan Kim aided the Reno cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1 for 4 with a double.
"Baseball is about momentum," said López, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
