Bumblebees Continue Skid Thanks to Butler, Mustangs
|
With catcher Jeff Butler leading the charge, the Billings Mustangs defeated the Pasadena Bumblebees, 11-3, at The Hole. Butler, who is tied for 10th in the DKL with a .627 slugging percentage, belted 3 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored three times. Julio Rivera was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Pasadena, at 2-16, has had a dismal start to the season.
The Mustangs got a big at-bat from center fielder Ramón Márquez. For the game, Márquez was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 20th hit of the season gave Billings a 2-0 lead.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Billings manager Bill Martin.
