Coal Miners Win 5-4 Walk-Off
|
The Coal Miners had to overcome a fine effort from Detroit pitcher Takeshi Gato to grab a narrow 5-4 win at The Coal Mine. Gato went 7.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Antioch is now 13-3.
The Coal Miners got a big at-bat from first baseman Elijah Brown. For the game, Brown went 2-4 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 19th hit of the season gave Antioch a 5-4 lead.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Hervé Barthélémy, the Antioch skipper. "This one tested us."
